Early on Easter Sunday morning a group of 250 mysterious visitors suddenly appeared along Park Lane in the village of Poynton. Created by the Art Relax craft team here at Poynton Methodist Church over a period of months, these heavenly beings could be seen hanging from trees, lampposts, shop signs, benches even hidden away in flowerbeds.
For the past few Christmas’s we have done a treasure hunt in the local shops and stores encouraging the youngsters of the village to search for ‘Sheep in shops, Wiseman in Windows, Donkeys in Doorways and last year Stars on Shelves. This year we wanted to do something slightly different to celebrate Easter and to bring the real message to people who might not normally go to church. One of our prayer group came up with the idea of angels announcing the good news that Jesus was risen and encouraging people who found them to take them home. The rest, if you’ll excuse the pun, is history!
